Flower Tips

Flowers are one expense that can really add up quickly if you are not careful. The key is to choosing flowers that are in season. They will be more readily available, which means that they will be cheaper. There are flowers in bloom every season in all colors. Set up an appointment with your florist and be upfront about what you are looking for and the price range you need to stick in. They are able to work with you on ways to keep costs down but still have a magnificent set up.

Another great way to save money is to look at flowers that are in bloom year round. Carnations, Fressia, Alstroemeria, and a variety of others are less than $2 a stem.

If you are creative and have help, then consider getting your flowers from alternative places then the usual florist. Warehouses like Costco and Sam's Club have beautiful flowers and you can get them at a discounted price. Another option is checking out your local farmers market. They usually have at least one person selling flowers and a very discounted price. You can talk to them about special orders and then take the flowers and make your own bouquets.
